Return of the Obra Dinn
Available on Steam
About
A game created by award winning game developer Lucas Pope. A murder mystery novel brought to life with 1-bit graphics described by the developer as "An Insurance Adventure with Minimal Color".
Summary of the story
In 1802, the merchant ship Obra Dinn set out from London for the Orient with over 200 tons of trade goods. Six months later it hadn't met its rendezvous point at the Cape of Good Hope and was declared lost at sea.
Early this morning of October 14th, 1807, the Obra Dinn drifted into port at Falmouth with damaged sails and no visible crew. As insurance investigator for the East India Company's London Office, dispatch immediately to Falmouth, find means to board the ship, and prepare an assessment of damages.
Portal 1 & 2
About
Two of the most well known puzzle video games, made by Valve. Portal 1 was originally released in 2007 with its sequel, Portal 2, releasing in 2011. Both puzzle-platformers were, and still, are hailed as some of the best puzzle games out there. Both consist of a series of rooms containing puzzles, however as the game progresses it breaks out into a unique adventure.
Summary of the story
Throughout the Portal series, you take on the role of Chell, a young woman trapped within the Aperture Science facility. Chell is forced to solve tests of varying difficulty in chambers designed by a psychopathic AI named GLaDOS.
During the early stages of the testing, Chell is granted usage of the Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device (commonly referred to as the portal gun), a piece of equipment developed by Aperture Science that allows Chell to create portals that act as gates between each other, allowing Chell to quickly traverse areas or reach normally unreachable places.
The Witness
Available on Steam
About
A game where puzzles and environment blend together into an island full of mystery. This game is, in my opinion, one of the more difficult puzzle games out there. However it is definitely still a truly recommendable experience.
Summary of the story
You don't remember who you are, and you don't remember how you got here, but there's one thing you can do: explore the island in hope of discovering clues, regaining your memory, and somehow finding your way home.
Examples of classic puzzles
There aren't a lot of puzzle types that are easy to show examples of on a website using only html and css as far as I'm aware. I'm also low on time so I sadly enough am unable to try to add more examples.
Sudoku
Sudokus are an example of casual puzzles you can do to pass the time.
The main rule to remember is: Each row, column and 3x3 box need to contain numbers 1 through 9. Hence no 2 of the same number are allowed in the same row, column or box.
Once you get past the first rule and lower difficulty sudokus, things do get rather complicated.

Nonogram
Another example of a more casual type of puzzle is the nonogram, often known as brand name Picross.
Each row and column have numbers that show how many squares need to be filled in. A single number indicates how many squares in a row are filled. There always needs to be at least 1 white square in between sets of numbers.
